Day 1 Jayapura - Wamena
From Sentani airport, you fly to Wamena, for the destination the Baliem valley. Enjoy the beautiful view of the green forests. Upon arrival in Wamena is a transfer to the hotel. Afterwards a visit to the High country of Baliem, Wosilimo / Kurulu is be made where an annual festival is held. In the evening it is possible to visit a unique night market in Wamena.

Day 2 Baliem Valley - Patipi Dibawa
From the Baliem Valley a flight departs to Dekai. Dekai is a small town, which is newly built. It is the home of the Manimo tribe. This tribe no longer lives completely according to the old traditions, but is quite modern. Then you leave Dekai for a cruise on the Brazza River to the village Patipi Dibawa. The Brazza River is one of the largest rivers in the area of the Asmat. The journey continues through the real rainforest, with occasional cries of the birds and monkeys in the background. Along the way, small villages are also being passed. Here, the population still lives in a very traditional way. In Patipi Dibawa, a tent camp will be set up to sleep between the local people.
Day 3 Patipi Dibawa - Mabul
In the early morning you a longboat will sail down the Brazza River towards the rugged Siret River. The flow is getting stronger, sandbanks lie in the water, and large tree stumps sometimes block the way. This is the exciting part of this trip. You will come across less and less other boats. After lunch the boat sails upstream to the Kuruwai village in Mabul. Mabul is the starting point for the trek that is on the program for the next day.

Day 4 Mabul - Manopteropo
The day of the trekking. After just 50 meters walking, the road goes on in the tropical jungle. After a long trek, you reach a fantastic settlement in the jungle with some traditional tree houses. The village is called Manopteropo. There live Kuruwai that walk in traditional clothing. They welcome you on a heart-warming way in their village. Next to the tree houses, or in a tree house with a height of 6 meters for the daredevils, the tents will be set up. This will definitely be a very unique experience.
Day 5 Manopteropo - Mabul
The Kuruwai accompany you today to the sago plantations. Incredibly to see the process of how the Kuruwai cut the trees with axes in no time and produce the Sago. Men and women each have their own task. Sago is the main food source for the Kuruwai. People who love photographing will not get enough of it.
Day 6 Mabul - Wowi
Also today, the journey goes on by boat, downstream to the point where the Siret River and Brazza River meet. The next larger settlement is Binam / Suator. After lunch the journey continues to Wowi. Wowi is a typical Citak village at the junction of the Sitak River and the Wildemann River. After a long journey, you arrive at Wowi and the tents will be set up. In the evening there is plenty of time to explore the village.
Day 7 Wowi - Kaimo
After breakfast, the boat departs to Kaimo, the first real Asmat settlement that you see during this journey. The tents are set up here in a traditional men's house, a "jeu". On the men's house is a one meter high ancestor statue. Very special to spend the night here.
Day 8 Kaimo - Warse
At dawn the tour continues to Warse. Warse is a large Asmat settlement with at least 3 men's houses. Along the way, a stop in Amboreb, a kind of artists' colony will be made. Beautiful objects can be bought for little money. In Warse, the camp will be set up, surrounded by three men houses. Visit these houses, walk through the village and see more Asmat art.
Day 9 Warse - Agats
Via a narrow creek you sail to the mangrove area. Experience the tropical area of close. The destination is Agats, the capital of the Asmat. Overnight at a simple hotel that stands like all other houses on stilts high above the ground. In the afternoon a visit is made to the interesting Asmat museum. Please pay special attention to the bisj poles. These are long poles, nicely decorated with ancestral figures. The skulls are somewhat sinister, which were conquered by head hunters. The spirit masks and war shields are very photogenic. Take enough time to get acquainted with the history of the Agats.
Day 10 Agats
Unfortunately, it's time to say goodbye to this beautiful area. You will be brought to Ewer, from the small airstrip in Ewer, an airplane leaves to Timika. End of your unforgettable journey.
