Day 1 Makassar
Upon arrival in Makassar follows a transfer to the hotel located in the centre of the seaside town. Makassar is famous for its beautiful sunset. From the terrace of your cottage you can enjoy the amazing views. Makassar is a port city on the west coast of South Sulawesi. Feel the unique energy that this island has to offer.
Makassar (between 1972 and 1999, called Ujung Padang) is the vibrant capital of South Sulawesi. Because of its central location, the city functions for centuries as a gateway to the eastern islands of Indonesia. Makassar also has a rich historical past with two mighty kingdoms that withstood the violence of the Dutch colony. The fort of Rotterdam (Benteng Ujung Padang) in the centre of Makassar is a well remained remnant of this fight. |

Day 2 Makassar - Bira
This day a journey of discovery will takes place, starting with a visit to Bira. Bira is a fishing village located on Tanjung Lassa. The Buginese are known as the best shipbuilders and sailors of Indonesia. In Tanah Beruh it is possible to see how these beautiful Wooden Phinisi ships are built. Then there is time to rest on the white beach of Bira.
Day 3 Bira - Sengkang
In the morning you travel further to Sengkang, a small town located in the former Buginese kingdom by Lake Temp. In Watampone a visit will be made to the Museum of Andi Mapasissi to admire the collection of the former Buginese Kings. In the afternoon, a motorized canoe departs on Lake Temp to see how the fishermen on the lake live in their floating villages. Meet the villagers and feel the love.
Day 4 Sengkang - Toraja
Today the journey to Toraja begins. In the morning, the local cottage industry of Sengkang and environment such as the weaving of Buginese silk will be visited first. Via Pare Pare you arrive in Enrekang. A stop in front of the "exotic" mountain will be made to enjoy the views. Late in the afternoon the trip arrives in Tanah Toraja. This is the most beautiful and most wonderful part of the island, and perhaps of whole Indonesia.
Day 5 Toraja
At the dawn of the morning, the whole day will be used to discover the Toraja highlands. A visits will be made to Lemo, where rows of Tau Tau dolls stand on the balconies of the tombs, Suaya area where you will find out about the secret of the baby tree, Londa, where the dead are still ceremonially buried and Kete Kesu, not only known because of the beautiful carvings but also because of the beautiful Tongkonan's and rice barns. This is followed by a visit to Batumonga, which offers wonderful views over Rantepao and the valley. An ideal environment for making a good walk, over the rice fields and through the daily Toraja life.
Toraja
The mountainous district of Toraja is the homeland of various ethnic groups that are called Toraja. (Toraja means "people of the mountains"). The Toraja call their traditional religion; Aluk to Dolo (rites of the elderly). They live to the patterns as described by the elderly and the Gods. These include impressive rituals, such as the burial of a deceased person. The beautiful carved houses with unique roofs, the Tongkonan, are also built on the principles of Aluk to Dolo. Although most Toraja today have adopted the Christian faith, many traditions still live on. |

Day 6 Toraja - Poso
You leave Central Sulawesi for the journey to Palopo, which delivers stunning views. Through Palopo, a small Muslim harbour town and via the Masamba district with its palm oil plantations you arrive late in the afternoon in Pendolo, a small town located on the eastern shore of the lake Poso.
Day 7 Poso - Tentena
At sunrise a ferry leaves for a trip across the lake. The Poso Lake is known as one of the finest and cleanest lakes in the world, surrounded by sandy beaches and tropical rainforests. In the afternoon a visit to the Wera Salopo waterfall will be made, known as one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Asia. It is a waterfall of at least 1 km long "rafting" water. Late in the afternoon, Tentena is reached for overnight. Tentena is located on the east side of the elongated Poso Lake.
Day 8 Tentena
Enjoy the sounds of nature that wake you up in the morning. Today a visit will be made to the Sulewana waterfall, a waterfall with up to 12 layers. Then, the journey continues to the Balinese transmigration village Tanusu. In the village, clove, vanilla, coffee and cocoa plantation can be found. Discover Tentena island.
Day 9 Tentena - Ampana
After breakfast, the journey goes on to Ampana. You stay right on the sea, under the palm trees, where you can see the dolphins playing in the water when lucky. Feel the unique energy on the way and enjoy the views. Ampana is a port town located on the Gulf of Tomini, a huge bay in which the National Park with the Togian Islands is located.
Day 10 Ampana - Togian Island
By boat, you leave to the Togian islands, a totally different world. Enjoy the peace. Here you will find no cars but only children who go to school with homemade canoes as a transportation method. This is the area of the sea gypsies. After a few hours sailing, the boat will moor in the afternoon at the island retreat resort, a beautiful resort located on one of the Togian islands.
Day 11 Togian Island
Leisure day. The whole day on the terrace of your "cabin" snorkelling before the door, or a walk across the island to one of the Bajau villages, the sea gypsy villages or rent a boat and sail to one of the nearby islands. Togian Island is a beautiful idyllic island where coconut palms sway above a powder-white beach and turquoise water, so bright that you can see the bottom filled with coral. Perfect for diving and snorkelling.
Day 12 Togian Island - Ampana
After lunch, the boat sails back to Ampana. Enjoy the views on the way.
Day 13 Ampana - Moutong
At dawn the journey continues with a trip to Moutong, a small fishing village.
Along the way you pass the monument of the equator in the village Marissa. Here, a stop is made, some photos can be taken and there is time to lunch. At the end of the afternoon, the day will arrive in Moutong.
Day 14 Moutong - Gorontalo
Enjoy breakfast in the morning before Moutong is left to drive to Gorontalo, a surprising town where much colonial architecture can be found. Along the way, a visit is made to several traditional villages and markets. In Gorontalo, some beautiful Dutch Colonial homes can be found.
Day 15 Gorontalo - Manado
This day you will leave to Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi. This is a wonderful journey with beautiful views of white beaches and countless coconut trees. Along the way you pass deserted beaches, beautiful clove plantations and picturesque villages. A visit to the Woloan village will be made, known for its beautiful wooden houses. Followed by a stop at the large Tondano Lake surrounded by typical local restaurants. Before arriving in Manado, you visit the Bukit Kasih with stunning panoramic views of green forests and hills.
Day 16 Manado - Tangkoko
During the beautiful morning, you go to Tangkoko national park, to visit the Monument of Sam Ratulangi and beautiful Chinese temple. From the highest point of Manado, you have a magnificent view over the city and the sea with the tropical island of Bunaken and Manado Tual giant volcano. Feel the energy and enjoy the view.
Day 17 Tangkoko
This is the end of the journey. Transfer to the airport or the harbour for your next destination.
