Day 1 Sembalun Lawang
Arrival in Sembalun Lawang. There is the opportunity to rest and in the afternoon walks in the surroundings can be made. Feel the contact with the earth with every step on the way and do not forget to enjoy the breath taking scenery.
Day 2 Rinjani
The early morning starts at the Rinjani Information Centre in Sembalun Lawang. Here you will visit the Volcanology Centre to learn about the volcano, the way the caldera and the lake Segara Anak were formed and the patterns of eruption. Information is given about the route, traditions, safety and waste management. Then the journey heads towards the volcano. During short stops, local citizens love to share their stories and legends. Depending on the weather, the night camp is set up. Did you not feel completely one with the nature earlier? Today this will definitely succeed. Try to enjoy the sounds and especially the stars in the evening and the night as long as possible. Due to the absence of light pollution the stars will show much more of themselves and only then you will experience how big the universe really is.
Rinjani
Rinjani is an active volcano in Indonesia on the island of Lombok. With its 3726 meters it is the second highest volcano of Indonesia. The first known documented eruption was in September 1847. The most recent eruption was in 2010. A massive eruption of Rinjani in 1258 CE may have triggered the Little Ice Age. The volcano and the Segara Anak crater lake, are protected by a national park established in 1997. In 2008, the Indonesian government proposed to UNESCO that Mount Rinjani be one of the world's official geoparks. If this was approved by UNESCO, Mount Rinjani would become the first such geological park in Indonesia. |

Day 3 Rinjani
A very early start is necessary to reach the top before the sun rises. Once arrived the shivers will go down your spine. The beautiful sunrise on the Rinjani is something to never forget. After extensively enjoyed the sunrise, you will return to the crater rim for a well-deserved breakfast. Then descending begins to the Crater Lake to spend the rest of the day relaxing and swimming. There is enough time left to try the thermal springs. The night camp is set up at the edge of the lake.
Day 4 Rinjani
During the morning, the journey continues to Plawangan I, Senaru crater rim (2.461m). The view of the Crater Lake is very unique from this side. The camp is stored on the crater rim and the wait for a beautiful sunset begins. Embrace the stunning views and the tranquillity.
Day 5 Rinjani - Senaru
After breakfast a long descent starts to the village Senaru (601m), through a thick tropical forest rich in flora and bird life. Maybe you will have the unique opportunity to see orchids, and with luck the rare black monkey. In Plawangan II, the Montong Satas shelter (1,500 m) there is an opportunity to rest and take a small taste of how the locals live here with peace and love for nature. After a few hours the track ends at the Trekking Centre in Senaru. That evening you can enjoy the beautiful heavenly-like sky of the village.
Day 6 Senaru
Today a visit is made to the Sendang Gile waterfall. This is an 80 meter high waterfall in Senaru which lies at the foot of the Rinjani. Admire the breath taking view and experience the powerful energy that Sendang Gile has to offer. After this the road heads for the Sasak village. Sasak, are the original inhabitants of the island of Lombok, who highly appreciates their ancient traditions. The tradition of life that Mother Earth appreciates. See their homes, their simple necessities of life and their colourful natural products at the traditional market. Followed by a visit to the Kuno Bayan mosque, the oldest and most unique mosque of the island which is built in the 16th century. The architecture of this building combines the architecture of Hindu Bali and Java Muslim.
Wetu Telu is a religion on the Indonesian island of Lombok. It is a mix of Balinese Hinduism, Islam and animism of the Sasak, the indigenous people of Lombok. The number three plays a major role in Wetu Telu. This refers to the three religions, but also to Allah, Muhammad and Adam, his analogue to the sun, moon and stars, which in turn refer to heaven, earth and water. This is for example reflected during Ramadan, with three days fasting. |

Day 7 Senaru
Today is a leisure day in Senaru. You can relax in the resort. Then you are brought to your next destination. End of this journey.
