SUMATRA SPIRIT         


In this 10-day journey you will discover the hidden wealth and love for mother nature on the island Sumatra. You will experience the rest and the special energy that is tangible. Day 1 Medan
After arrival at Medan you will visit the historic Maimon Palace. Followed by a visit to a school especially for deaf children; experience the beauty of their dimensional world. Additionally, a trip is made to the wild life animal museum and the crocodile farm to enjoy these miraculous creatures. You also get a taste of culture and religion by visiting the grand mosque and the day ends with a dinner at the heritage old city hall.

Day 2 Medan - Tangkahan

This day starts bright and early from Medan to Tangkahan. Arrival at Tangkahan, starting with a beautiful walk through the palm oil plantation, the Canopy Bridge at the beginning of the jungle. Moreover, the next trip will be enlightening for every person, helping the elephant bathing on the Batang River surrounded by a magnificent view on the jungle. A short hiking trail will lead you to a hidden waterfall between two rivers, the Buluh and the Batang river (note: In the raining season sometimes you can’t cross the River.  To make sure please ask to the guide for advice). After dinner you pay a visit to the medicine man, Mr. Sitepu, who is famous for his herbal medicine which can cure bone and nerve problems.

Day 3 Tangkahan
After breakfast you will pay a visit to the elephant safari and experience the jungle on the back of an elephant which gives a total different viewing point of the jungle. Provisionally the journey can be continued with a trekking to the deep forest of Mount Leuser by a three hours walk towards the purifying spring water.

Day 4 Tangkahan - Bohorok
At sunset an early morning motor bike tour to Bohorok is made, passing the Leuser National Park. When lucky you will get a view on Rafflessia Arnoldy’s flower. After arrival at Bohorok there is time for lunch and then the trip continues with a trekking through the jungle and during noon you will enjoy feeding the amazing Orang-utan.

Bohorok is one of the few places on earth where you can have a magical experience meeting the orang-utans. The orang-utans are the two exclusively Asian species of extant great apes. Native to Indonesia and Malaysi. The orang-utans are currentlund in only the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra. Orang-utans are the most arboreal of the great apes and spend most of their time in trees. They can live over 30 years in both the wild and captivity.


Day 5 Bohorok - Brastagi
During this early morning there is another chance to see the Orang-utan again, where after the trip continues to Brastagi. On the way the village of Sebahe is passed where they sell traditional medicine, surely a new experience for almost anyone.

Day 6 Brastagi - Samosir
This day the Island Samosir is visited, but before doing this you will go to the Sipiso-piso waterfall and the long house of the Simalungun King. Additionally, visit the Simarjarunjung hill to enjoy ginger tea and fried banana. Next, the lake is crossed by boat to get to the Island Samosir. Have a look at the Ambarita village to see the Stone Chair of King Siallagan and  pay a visit to the Tomok village to see the wonderful King Sidabutar Tomb.

Day 7 Samosir
This day will involve a trekking to the amazing Pusuk Buhut, which is a traditional village on the hill of the mountain. For this trip a good condition is required and may therefore not be suited for every person. If not you can experience the serenity of the Samosir lake.

Pusuk Buhit is widely known as a sacred hill for all Batak descendants. The elders told their descendants that long time ago, the first Batak man was born supernaturally on the summit of Pusuk Buhit. He was known King of Batak. Only few meters from the valley, climbers can see the splendid statues of the Batak King. The King was told to be able to turn into seven different faces. Yet, his real face was none of those seven faces. He was born with extraordinary power that until today, many Batak people believed in his powers. There are not few people who purposely climbed Pusuk Buhit to pray to him and ask for bless and power. Mostly are those who have difficulties in life or are ill.


Day 8 Samosir - Padang Sidempuan
Today you will pay a visit to Portibi which includes all day. In Portibi it is possible to make nice walks past the old Hindu Temples. After this there is an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape while driving to Padang Sidempuan.

Day 9 Padang Sidempuan - Bukittinggi
The day starts with a visit to the waterfall Aek Sijorni and a taste of medicine and spices farm. It makes fun to go to the monkey attraction at the farm where you can enjoy the taste of fresh coconut, picked by the monkeys themselves from the trees. Followed by a trip to the Muara Sipongi village to experience the making of brown sugar. After passing this village the road continues to Bukittinggi and to Panti to view the spring water. Finally the day ends with a visit to the Equator in Bonjol.

Day 10 Bukittinggi - Padang
The last day of this tour exists of a visit to various sites such as the Sianok Canyon,
Fort the Kock and Arau Hill. Moreover, you will go to the Pandai Sikek Village to see handmade souvenirs such as a Songket and close the day with an incredible view from the Anai Hill on the waterfall. You will transfer to the airport for your next destination.
